John Davies photography is centrally focused on industrial settings to which I feel I can relate to due to my connections to the similarities to such places I live near. By using black and grey images, the light and dark refines charactor with in the detail the effect highlights. I feel his work reflects life and reality of urban living. I feel that the effect of using only black and white evokes emotions of memories of social landscapes of past industries such as Coal Mining, railways and steel manufacturing (all once a major part of british industial culture).
